In June 2026, I took part in a birdwatching trip to northern Finland and Varanger (Norway), organized by SEO BirdLife, the Spanish Ornithological Society, a member of BirdLife International.
The trip began in Oulu and continued on to Kuusamo and Ivalo. We crossed into Norway and stayed in Vardø, from where we visited the island of Hornøya. We then traveled to Båtsfjord before returning to Ivalo, where we caught our return flights.

We had the opportunity to observe and photograph a broad range of species, thanks to the great skills of SEO guides (Victor Ortega and José María de la Peña) and two local guides in Finland, who helped locating the owls and the black grouse, the capercaillie and the hazel grouse (I have no photos of this). Some of the participants had also impressive knowledge and experience in birdwatching.
